Cover Artwork for Resurgence & Ecologist - Choosing Peace

Posted by Nick Jones on

The latest issue of Resurgence & Ecologist (September/October) has just been published, and I’m delighted to share that two of my paintings are featured.

One of them appears on the front cover, accompanying this issue’s theme: Choosing Peace. Inside the magazine, there’s also a full-page detail of Evening Rainbow over Nellim, Finland, along with a mention in the editorial introduction.

The issue reflects on how individually we might pause, and how together we can collaborate to begin to create a culture of peace. I feel deeply touched to have my work included in this edition.

Resurgence & Ecologist is a magazine I first discovered as a student nearly forty years ago. I used to find it in bookshops or read it in libraries, drawn to its thoughtful essays and gentle tone. Over time, it slipped off my radar, so it’s been a real pleasure to reconnect. It’s also a great honour to be invited to contribute.

Here is a little excerpt from the editorial team’s welcome letter ‘Finding stillness and joy in dark times’.

‘Finding a sense of peace through creativity runs as a thread through the pages of this issue, beginning with our cover artist, Nicholas Jones, who shares what this means to him:

‘Painting is one of the ways I stay anchored to beauty in a world that can often feel overwhelmingly turbulent and confusing. It’s my way of holding the sorrow and wonder of the world together. Each piece is an attempt to offer an authentic moment of stillness, in the hope that it might bring joy to others and help them feel more grounded and present.

You can find the magazine and explore more at www.resurgence.org. If you pick up a copy, I’d love to know what resonates with you.
