But Will It Last? Thoughts on Quality and Longevity

Posted by Nick Jones on

I want you to feel confident that any piece you buy from me will stand the test of time — so long as it’s properly cared for (kept dry, and ideally out of direct sunlight). Here’s a little more about the materials I use in the various works available on my website:

Paintings
Whether on canvas or paper, all my paintings are made using the highest quality materials — Lascaux acrylics or Michael Harding oils — on correctly prepared grounds. You can rest assured that they will age beautifully and remain vibrant for generations.

Screen Prints
My screen prints are hand-printed using Lascaux acrylics and screen-printing medium, on St Cuthbert's Mill ‘Somerset Satin’ 300gsm paper. This is an acid-free, 100% cotton rag paper favoured by printmakers across disciplines for its strength and fine surface.

Screen prints offer a more affordable way of acquiring an original work, and are a wonderful place to begin a collection.

Open Edition Prints
These are printed and framed by eframe, a trusted fine art print company. They use Epson Enhanced Matte 192gsm paper, Epson 9900 printers, and HDR UltraChrome inks. These inks, a favourite among professionals, offer twice the density of standard pigments, resulting in prints that are highly faithful to the original paintings. They’re also lightfast for 200+ years and maintain accurate colour in a wide range of lighting conditions.

eframe has worked with thousands of clients, including Harrods, John Lewis and the Tate Gallery.

I have one of my own eframe open edition prints hanging by my desk. Looking at it now, I feel that it brings me as much pleasure as the original would.

If you’re looking for the most accessible way to bring one of my works into your space, an open edition print is a good place to start.

If you ever have questions or concerns about choosing or buying art, whether that be materials, framing, hanging, or anything else, I’d be glad to hear from you. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
