Aurora and Shoreline – Fine Art Print

A luminous Northern Lights landscape print, evoking the quiet majesty of an Arctic night. The original painting from which this print was made was inspired by time spent in Finnish Lapland in autumn when I spent many hours watching the aurora rippling over the snow covered shores of lakes soon to be frozen for the winter. In this print shades of green and pale yellow shift to a trembling edge of brilliant pink, mirrored in the water below. Silhouetted pine trees frame the vast, starlit sky, while along the shoreline, the glow of a small fire suggests a moment of warmth and presence in the remote wilderness.

Lighting fires is an important way to keep warm whilst waiting for the aurora. I love how this scene balances grandeur with intimacy—the vastness of the Arctic night sky set against the quiet human presence at the water’s edge.
