The original painting was inspired by my time sailing down the coast of Baffin Island in the Canadian Arctic—a magnificently remote and desolate landscape. In this piece, I wanted to express not only its wild, unyielding presence but also the way it was held in conversation by the luminous softness of the dawn sky and the ever-moving ocean.
