Painted in 2018, this piece recalls an astonishing moment in Davis Strait on the voyage from Greenland to Baffin Island. The sparkling sea stretched dark and endless beneath a luminous sky. A shifting fog bank formed on the horizon, softening the boundary between water and air. Little did I know that I was about to see my first fog bow: another fleeting encounter with the Arctic’s quiet mystery.
