Fog Bow and Melt Pools: Fine Art Arctic Landscape Print on Paper
This fine art Arctic landscape print celebrates the raw, untamed beauty and the fragile wonder of the Arctic. The Arctic light is like a living thing—crisp, full, and subtle. I first experienced it in 2014 while visiting Finnish Lapland, where the vast skies, dazzling brilliance of sunlight on snow, the intensity of Arctic twilight, and the beauty of the Arctic night made a deep impression.
The original painting from which this print was made was an early exploration of the mesmerizing qualities of Arctic light and the fascinating ways it interacts with ice and snow. A fogbow, a rare form of rainbow, is created by the refraction of light through water droplets. In fog, the droplets are so small that the colours blend into a purer white, creating a soft, ethereal arc. In this image, the fogbow brings a sense of transcendence, evoking a mysterious and other-worldly presence across the ice.
