During my time in Greenland in 2018, I was struck by the clarity of mind that came from being immersed in a landscape distilled to its purest elements: ice, rock, water, and light. The original painting seems to hold that same clarity, inviting the viewer into its quiet expanse. Even now, as I look at it, the scene feels alive—as if, at any moment, the stillness might be broken by the distant blow of a whale surfacing.
