Ice and Air – Arctic Landscape Print

Arctic landscape print showing a vast frozen expanse at dawn. This is dawn at the edge of the world.

This painting was made before my Arctic residency in Greenland and Baffin Island, at a time when I was trying to understand why the North exerted such a powerful draw on me. It's less a direct response to lived experience and more a distillation of a dream—the Arctic imagined rather than observed.

Luminous pale blue pressure cracks and fissures pattern the ice, leading the eye toward the horizon where the first flush of sunrise warms the sky. Even now, after time spent in the Arctic, this image still holds the immense stillness and spaciousness I was searching for.

Printed using archival pigment inks on fine art paper.
